Reminder: AEC Technology Round Table this Thursday, March 22!

Technology Round Table – Come join an open discussion on current and emerging technologies to start off the new year!  This will be a relaxing environment where no topic is off the table.  Topics will include but are not limited to:

  • Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD
  • Drones
  • Lasers Scanning/ Data Capture
  • Augmented/ Virtual Reality
  • Fabrication Software
  • 3D Printing
  • Autodesk BIM 360/ Collaboration Tools
  • Facility Management

We will have a project and screen available if you would like to present something during the discussion or share something that you are currently working on.  Brian King, with Rodgers, and William Speakman, with Adams Electric, will MC the discussion topics.  We hope this discussion will generate new ideas and thoughts for you to implement within your company.  This will also be a great time to socialize with fellow peers in the industry! Food and drink will be provided.

Octapharma Plasma Headquarters

Our next meeting is scheduled for June 5th!

Please join Wright McGraw Beyer Architects, Leach Wallace, Fitzpatrick Engineering and Balfour Beatty Construction while they discuss the use of BIM on the Octapharma Plasma headquarters in Charlotte, NC. Each team member will be discussing the benefits and challenges they faced using BIM in this extremely fast paced and complex project. Key topics will be using Revit for early conceptual design, real time rendering, design coordination, creation of shop drawings, construction coordination and 3d scanning for as built quality control.

Case Check

Checks all elements in the model from the following categories for compliance and allows you to easily convert their text to either all uppercase or all lowercase letters.
Supported element types:

  • Text Notes
  • Room Names
  • Level Names
  • Sheet Names
  • Sheet Numbers

  • View Title on Sheet parameter for views

Text Case Tools - Most Downloaded Apps

Convert to Uppercase

  • Converts the selected elements to all uppercase letters.
  • This works on text notes, levels and rooms.  Selecting a room will update the room name and selecting levels will update the level name.

 

Convert to Lowercase

  • Converts the selected elements to all lowercase letters.
  • This works on text notes, levels and rooms.  Selecting a room will update the room name and selecting levels will update the level name.

M-Six VEO – February 20th 2014

Please join us on Thursday, February 20th when Phil Read will discuss using VEO™ (www.m-six.com) to dramatically increase project collaboration, coordination and operations. VEO exports from Revit and other BIM formats in order to make the project model and information quickly and easily accessible to the entire team: designers, builders, managers and owners.
